Above & Beyond – The rise to fame
The London-based group first started in 1999 as a duo made up of Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki. They decided to not only collaborate but also set up their own label called “Anjunabeats” and quickly released their first single, “Volume One”. Due to its immediate success, Tony McGuinness got in touch to collaborate and joined up, making the duo a trio and officially calling themselves “Above & Beyond”. The group had the opportunity of teaming up with some major artists and DJs between 2000 and 2001, and eventually making it big with huge collaborations with Madonna, Tiesto, Britney Spears and Dido. In 2002, the trio debuted as a DJ and made appearances at some of the biggest festivals, like The Ultra Music Festival, and clubs across the globe, from Scotland, to Tokyo, to Ibiza. They have remained in the top 50 of the DJs rankings every year since 200, peaking at #4 in both 2008 and 2009.
Above & Beyond albums
It wasn’t until 2006 that Above & Beyond released their debut artist album called Tri-State. They won Best Underground Dance Track for the song “Air for Life” with Andy Moor. The next year they released Sirens of the Sea (2008) and again won the award for Best Underground Dance Track with the song “Home” feat Hannah Thomas. The group continuously produced music and released more albums including Group Therapy (2011), Acoustic (2014), We Are All We Need (2015), Acoustic II (2016), and in 2018 Common Ground. In 2016, Above & Beyond were nominated for a Grammy, Best Dance Recoding for the song “We’re All We Need.”
