Atlanta Braves History
The Atlanta Braves, named after the term for a Native American warrior, are one of only two of the National League's remaining charter franchises (the other being the Chicago Cubs). Founded in Boston in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, the team changed name and city various times before finally moving to Atlanta and becoming the Atlanta Braves in 1966. The team has had a very successful history and has won 3 World Series titles (1914, 1957, 1995), 17 Pennants, 12 East Division titles and 5 West Division titles. The Braves can also boast having numerous legends of baseball on its playing roster, most famously perhaps being Hank Aaron who held the MLB record for career home runs for 33 years until it was beaten in 2007 by Barry Bonds.

The Braves' now play at the brand-new SunTrust Park in Cobb County. The stadium, which has a capacity of over 41,000, was opened on 31 March, 2017 with an exhibition game between against the New York Yankees which the Braves won 8-5.
