Baku's City Circuit set to Dazzle Again
Baku's brief to Tilke Engineering was to create one of the most unique, exciting, thrilling circuits on the F1 Calendar. After two years of Formula One racing in Azerbaijan, it certainly looks like that has come true. The Baku City Circuit mixes difficult, technical sectors that leave no margin for error with extreme straights where speeds can reach 360 kilometres-per-hour. The Baku Grand Prix circuit is six kilometres long and features 20 turns, making it the second longest circuit on the current F1 calendar, just behind the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps which hosts the Belgium Grand Prix.
Baku itself is a spectacular setting for a Formula One race, the city boasts a proud, rich history combined with modern 21st architecture. Indeed, the historic city centre, the beautiful seaside promenade and the impressive government house all combine to provide the perfect backdrop for the spectacular track.
2017 F1 Azerbaijan race
Drama certainly wasn't lacking the 2017 Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan. In fact, many people have said that it was the most exciting Formula One Grand Prix in years. The race in the sunny capital featured crashes, technical faults, safety cars and a petty feud between Formula One title contenders Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. In the end, Australia's Daniel Ricciardo took the title and Valtteri Bottas pipped Lance Stroll on the line to take 2nd place. It wasn't all bad for the young Canadian though, his 3rd place made him the youngest rookie to get on a Podium and the second youngest driver ever to finish on the podium. Will the 2018 Grand Prix have the same level of excitement? Well, you'll never know unless you buy F1 Azerbaijan tickets today. Be there in April 2018.
