A highly anticipated racing event
F1, or Formula One, has become one of the most highly anticipated racing events since its inaugural race in Silverstone, United Kingdom, in 1950. F1 seasons, or "Grand Prix", are held worldwide. Both drivers and constructors are considered the competitors in each race, with each event always having two champions—for the driver category, and the car manufacturer category. With great support from fans and sponsors, Grand Prix are the ultimate platform where drivers get to show off their driving prowess and skill, while manufacturers get to display new technology and state of the art construction methods. The 1958 to 1974 Grand Prix seasons were considered the era of British dominance. During the 24-year period, nine British drivers and fourteen British constructors won their respective categories. The British camp was spearheaded by driver Mike Hawthorn, who was also the UK’s first Formula One racing world champion. British manufacturer Lotus dominated the period with their iconic race car, the British Racing Green (BRG). The BRG also pioneered how race cars carry advertising when they introduced the aluminum-sheet monocoque chassis, which allowed the cars’ bodies to be wrapped with ads.
