Watch the competitors fly through the air
The diving events in the games taking place in the summer of 2021 in Tokyo promise to be quite a spectacle. While the USA traditionally dominated the medals tables in the early years of the games, China started to emerge as a fierce competitor in the early 1980s and has slowly been getting stronger. This year should show some exciting new talent as the USA is staging a comeback and the teams of Australia and Great Britain are both strong. There are eight events in total—individual men’s and women’s events from both 3m springboard and 10m platform and synchronised events for both men and women from both heights. The entry into the water is what spectators thrive on—was there a splash or not, what will the judges say? Ensure you reserve your place for these events and get your Tokyo Games in summer 2021: Diving tickets from StubHub today—hurry, as supply is limited. Further details of events, times and location can be researched when you purchase your tickets.
Diving—taking gymnastics to the water
What started out as an aquatic sport practised mainly by gymnasts who moved their tumbles and turns from the bars and mats to the water became a competitive event in the international, multi-sport events in the summer of 1904 in St Louis. The events have changed over the years with differences in board type and height and with women first entering the competitions in 1912 in Stockholm. Since 1928, however, the diving events have taken place off 3m springboards and 10m static platforms. The newest event to be incorporated is synchronised diving, from both heights, where pairs of men or women attempt to enter the water at the same time with the same manoeuvres. This appeared for the first time in the summer of 2000 in Sydney. Buy your Tokyo Games in summer 2021: Diving tickets today.
